Jenn Galandy
Experience
Jenn Galandy is a Calgary, Alberta native who is passionate about serving others on both public and personal scales. Prior to returning to her hometown in early 2020, Jenn served in London, England, as the Policy Project Manager at Cabinet Office and, previously, the Policy and Strategy Manager for the Ministry of Justice for the United Kingdom Government. She is a proud graduate of the University of Nottingham, from which she earned her Master’s in Public Policy.
Prior to her time at the University of Nottingham, Jenn Galandy graduated with an Undergraduate Degree in Political Science, from the University of Calgary. During her four years in Calgary, Galandy took part in a variety of activities and initiatives both on and off the campus, including the Model United Nations Team and the Political Science Association.
Currently, Jenn Galandy serves as the Human Resources Operations Administrator for the University of Calgary. Through this role, Jenn has the opportunity to connect with individuals on a more personal level, thus broadening her experience from her previous positions in large-scale public policy.
Alongside her work, Jenn conducts research regarding women’s involvement in politics. Recently, Galandy published a journal article highlighting her findings to-date, which she hopes will put a spotlight on the hurdles female politicians face as they strive for success. She also serves as a contributing writer for Apolitical and Huffington Post, through which she speaks to current issues in Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, and the world at large.
While she has gained a great deal of experience through the above ventures, Jenn Galandy is dedicated to constantly refining her personal and professional skill set. As such, she frequently participated in development courses during her academic career. In 2018, she completed management courses with Dale Carnegie, which covered a spectrum of topics ranging from delegation to finding motivation. In 2017, she represented the University of Nottingham at International Organisation Day at London School of Economics. From 2016 to 2017, Jenn Galandy completed public speaking courses through Outspoken Communication. These and other achievements have helped Jenn Galandy stand out from her peers and attain unique opportunities after graduation.
In fact, Jenn was recently asked by the University of Nottingham to serve as their 2019 spokesperson for their Masters of Public Policy program. Through this opportunity, Jenn is able to speak to current and future students regarding what they can do with their degree, and showcase the work she has completed through her research and government jobs.
Jenn Galandy hopes that, through her writing and ongoing involvement in the academic space, she can inspire young women to pursue their desired career paths, despite any societal obstacles or biases that seem to stand in their way.
